SSD with a partition of Windows 7 not being recognised

So I recently installed windows 7 on an ssd for another computer, because on that computer windows 7 kept on getting a required cd dvd device driver is missing error using either an external usb optical drive or a usb drive. now i put the ssd back in the computer it wont recognise the windows partition on it.

The system the ssd belongs in is an i5 6600K with a MSI Z170-A Pro Edition motherboard.

have you previously installed the win 7 on SSD? and added that are you using secondary hard drive for storage purpose?

I have previously installed win 7 on the ssd and i have also disconnected the secondary hard drive and with onlythe ssd connected it still would not boot to windows

Well, you had an error before, you have an error now, format the SSD and you should be good, next time repair the drive when you are asked.

what message or screen you are getting? while booting from the ssd? and have you completely formatted your SSD? because it may possible that you had altered your partition table. or you had modified your MBR.

the thing is even if i so format the ssd, windows still would not install because of the error even with a clean ssd ive tried using usb 2.0 ports for the usb optical drive and the usb stick to install windows to no avail

reboot and select proper boot device means that you had altered the MBR. so format SSD completely. that will solve your problem. delete all partitions and start from the scratch. that's all.

Your inability to boot on a different motherboard that windows was installed may be caused by UEFI secure boot which needs to be disabled.

Z170 motherboards need drivers for their usb ports that are not present on a windows dvd.
You can slipstream those drivers into the install stream, but the simple solution is to temporarily use a sata attached dvd drive to do the install.
