I have a Samsung SSD 840 Series 120gb, which isn't being detected by this system:

MB MSI|Z87-G43 Z87 1150 RT ( All SATA 3 Ports )

CPU INTEL|CORE I5 4670K 3.4G 4C 6M

MEM 2x8G|CRUCIAL

VGA| SAPPHIRE 6950 2gb (shader unlock)

HDD| SAMSUNG SPINPOINT 1TB

ASUS DVDR

CORSAIR H50

PSU| OCZ 700W

Initially hooked it up and wouldn't detect in BIOS or windows install. So I swapped sata cables and power cables in that order to see if that was the problem, with still no luck. I tried playing around with settings in BIOS switching between IDE and AHCI still no result, I figure it should at least detect regardless of controller settings. I tried hot plug on the sata port. The other hdd and dvdr are detected in BIOS, I tried booting without the HDD and it still wouldn't detect.

At this point I thought it was probably DOA. But I gave it to a friend to plug into his system (Ivy Bridge, Asus p8z77-v lk) and it works!

This leads me to believe that the problem is SATAIII, because his board has SATAII ports whereas mine does not, even though SSD is SATAIII compatible.

Any help would be appreciated, I'm stuck at 7200rpm atm!

Thanks in advance
