I'm looking for a 2tb or 4tb gen 4 SSD for mixed desktop application, including gaming, photo editing, documents, etc. My OS drive is a WD Black SN850x.

I've narrowed down to these three options. I like them because they are all TLC drives. At 4tb capacity, Silicon Power US75 is $230, Lexar is $245, and the Samsung is $260.

I've never heard of SP. Is it a reputable brand? I've used Lexar stuff before and liked them but I heard they are now owned by the Chinese. Are they still good? Is it worth paying extra for Samsung?

Yeah Silicon Power has been in business for about a decade.

To be blunt, if you compare the SSD's side by side, then you're actually paying for what you get with the Samsung drives. They also make their own IC's, much like SK Hynix and Crucial.

SP and Lexar drives appear almost identical spec wise. They both use the same controller and TLC. Samsung uses their own as you mentioned, which I assume is better.

I'm typing this on a laptop equipped with a Lexar SSD (an NM600 to be precise). I have nothing to complain, I've been using it since... 2018-ish I believe as a boot drive, and it's been working flawlessly. I assume the newer one would be the same.

That being said, when it comes to SSDs, I'm more of a "when in doubt, buy Samsung" kind of guy.. I personally have been hearing good things about their customer sevices..

Last week the Silicone Power 2TB US75 cost $109.00. This morning, Amazon jacked the prices up ~10% to $119.99 You waited a scoatch too long for a purchase.

Memory prices fluctuate quite a bit. SP drives are sold by SP on Amazon, not by Amazon. They ain't go nothin' to do with the "jacking up" of prices.

Yes, since about 60% of Amazon's sales are 3rd party, I take it for granted people can tell the difference. The price for the US75 held steady @ $98.xx, Then $109.xx for a while. Went down today from $119.xx to $114.xx. Tariffs leave a permanent price scare. Refraining from any political statement.
