First a few points to outline my situation: I have an MSI GT780DXR Laptop. This machine comes with a RAID setup from the manufacturer. It is now 3 years old. Last year i replaced the OS harddrive with a SSD drive (OCZ Agility 3) and everything was fine. Until recently, when my non-OS hdd showed first signs of imminent failure. I backed everything up and replaced the hdd with a SSHD hybrid drive (ST1000LM014-1EJ64). I initialized it, formatted it and restored the backup onto it.
Now the actual issue: When i startup the system there is like a 50/50 chance that the SSHD isnt recognized. All shortcuts are indicated as missing, in the BIOS there is no sign of it. The interesting thing is: A restart usually fixes this. It isn't a huge problem, but a curious one nonetheless. I have scanned the drive for hardware issues and found none. I have no further ideas what it could be. I recently had the machine serviced and they updated the BIOS and the SATA controller, so i am fairly confident that this isnt the issue either.
Anyone got any ideas what might cause this rather strange "disappearance" of my SSHD?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I had tried that already but it didnt make a difference. The odd thing being that it doesn't happen everytime, just occasionally. I just stumpled upon a different thread from a few years ago, when it just happened after resuming from sleep mode. There appears to be a hotfix from Microsoft regarding this, and it only applies to Win 7 64 and large (i.e. 1 TB or more) SATA drives as these require longer than the allocated 10 seconds to power up. I will try this now and report back.
