So i have a ryzen 9 5900x and a X570-E as motherboard.
The problem i have, which isn't really that big of a problem, but it's kinda of annoying, is that my CPU has temperature spikes. For example i open steam and the CPU goes from 40 degrees to 60-70. Otherwise when i'm playing it works normally and is around 60-65 degrees, also when completely idle the temperature is stable at 40 or something less. Is there a way to stabilize it as to avoid this spikes? Cause they prompt my aio cooler to work at full speed for nothing.
Also I don't know why it's clocked so that it goes at max frequency even though i never overclocked it.

Hey there,

So, this is pretty much normal for Ryzen chips. Ryzen CPU's spin up all cores when a task needs to be done. Not all cores will be loaded. So when even doing a simple task from idle, like opening a browser, the CPU temps jump up 10c+. Then drop back to normal pretty quickly.

List your full pc specs.

You can test how well your CPU performs temp wise with Cinebench R23. Run HwIno along with it and watch the temps on the fly.

You can't eliminate spikes unless you design an OS that does nothing on the side, but an OS that does nothing can't function.

It's by design. For the core(s) to finish an assigned task as fast as possible, so it/they can go right back to sleep and save power, it is necessary to be fed with a certain amount of voltage to do that. That's where the spikes come from.
If they don't get that supply of voltage when they jump out of bed at full speed, you get instability.

-Max out pump rpm.
-Run case and radiator fans as high as you can tolerate.
-If the gpu has a 0rpm mode, perhaps force that mode off, so it'll be part of system cooling again.

Yeah, pretty standard fair, and a decent system. Quality parts.

As mentioned, your issue is normal. Nothing to be concerned about.
All right thanks for the help and the info.
Have a good day
