Hi

I looking for a sound card for my AMD 1GHz and Asus A7V system. It needs to be decent for games and recording via "line-in" jack.

I need something that is going to be stable and compatible under NT4 and 98.

I see only the only Soundblaster card on MS Hardware Compatibility List is the 128 PCI. Soundblaster used to be the industry standard (if you ran NT you really needed a SB).

If I stick with SB I am looking at one of the following:
128 PCI
512 PCI
Live value

any suggestions?

Thanks

Johnny

I use a sb pci512 in my system and haven't had a problem since i built the system.

get the Live! Value. Very stable card, good performance, good sound. Driver updates make it better every day.

I have used MX300 since it came out (about 2 years ago) on:
Win95, Win98, Win98SE, WinNT4, Win2000Pro, Win2000Server, Win2000Advanced Server (Linux did not see it yet).
Hardware was:
P2-350, P3-500, Athlon 600 classic (right now).
They all were having 0 (zero) problems with that card.
Have MS Surround system now with USB too.
Have also SB16 ISA in P2-266@300, still works awesome.

hehehe...

its not too late yet...
