I currently have a 35" Ultrawide (21:9) at 3440x1440 resolution. I am purchasing a 2nd one that will be 34" but the same aspect ratio and resolution.

Question 1) I am looking for guidance on orientation of the monitors. Should I stack them or position them side-by-side?

My desk is not large, it is about 48" wide and 26" deep, has a glass/acrylic top, and is a motorized sit/stand desk. I think it would be challenging to place them side-by-side on the desk using the stands they come with. So I will be looking at a mount.

Question 2) What brand/model of mount would you recommend? I need something that I can use for both monitors, and either needs to mount to the desk (with the glass top) or to the wall and support moving up and down with the desk.

Solution
little background i have 2 LG 27" 4k monitors, for a while i ran them side by side and bout 8 months ago stacked them. I bought a dual arm mount and mounted the lower monitor with the top bezel at eye level and slightly tilted upwards, the top monitor stacked right above slightly angled down. From the side it looked like a very wide V shape.

fast forward to this week and built a new desk, 12u server rack on one side, standard leg on the other end and a 5'x 25"x 2" solid maple top. when moving the monitor arm over to the new desk one of the monitors angle bracket became loose and when tightened stripped out.

1 get a good arm if you're going to stack the monitors, its got to hold a lot of weight
2 depending on how close you...
1) Side by side - much more natural and physically less fatiguing (over long periods of use) than looking up and down. Easier on neck muscles and eye (focusing) fatigue.

2) I do not not favor wall mounts - it can be difficult to obtain a secure mount to the wall especially if the wall studs are not favorably placed. Drywall anchors are very "iffy" in most situations.

Desk Mount - something like this:

[ Note: Just an example. Not promoting either Insignia or Best Buy.]

You can easily google for similar products. If the glass desktop gets in the way you may be able to use a floor based mount/pole.

2 depending on how close you are looking across a 35 and 34 is going to be a lot of head movement side to side
3 might run into slight issues with the mouse getting stuck in the corner of the monitor moving between 35 and 34 inch

For work i run a hybrid side by side plus stacked, i have 4 23" monitors. 3 across the bottom and a 4th right over the center.

left monitor is for email
center monitor primary work
right monitor internet, remote desktop to servers
upper center monitoring stats on servers, and a webpage open monitoring 12 cameras

i do most of my work facing the center/ right monitor and glance at the upper every once and a while, to look at the left monitor is almost a full 90* turn to look at it.
