Hi guys,

I bought this Western Digital Black 4TB SATA III 3.5" Hard Drive (WD4005FZBX ) at the begining of 2019.
It's mostly used for media files and some games.

Every once in a while, when trying to acces some files via Explorer or play a mp3 using Winamp or some other app it will stall / freeze for a few seconds.
It is also quite loud at times.

Is that normal for this kind of HDD?

My PC specs are:
Aorus Gaming 7 x470
Ryzen 7 3700X with Celsius S24
PowerColor 5700XT
Seasonic SnowSilent 650W
Samsung 970 Evo 250GB with Win 10 PRO x64 ver 1909
Seagate 2TB SSHD

Solution
A 'stall or freeze' for a few seconds would only be normal if the drive has perhaps spun down or reduced speed (for power saving, with this 20 min default time limit accessible and adjustable with power plan/advanced settings) due to lack of recent access, which causes a 3-5 second delay for it to spin back up before it can be read from, which, normally can be heard if other fans, etc., are not that loud...
