what do i have to do to bring my computer out of Stand By
mode, as nothing seems to work. i've tried moving the
mouse, typing on the keyboard. am i doing something
wrong ?

May need to check the system documentation. I had a laptop that resumed
only when the spacebar was pressed. Your system might do something similar
and this should be noted in the manuals.

Otherwise, it's possible that a hardware driver or software package is not
entirely compatible with Standby. You might find details about the failure
to resume in Event Viewer.
