Hello,

Does anyone remember ST: JR? When I got my first computer back in 1994,
being a die hard Star Trek Fan, this was the first game I ever bought. I
remember I couldn't wait to get home and load it - on 3.5" diskettes. After
loading it and starting the first mission (and of course having no
experience in adventure games), I was stuck in the brig. At that point, I
gave up.

A few days, a friend of mine and I were going to the Price Club and my
sister wanted to go. She also wanted to come by see my new computer (a
Packerd Bell 486/25 with 4mb memory). That Saturday, 1 of my friends and my
sister came by and when I went to take a shower, they actually read the
manual and started playing ST JR. I remember them telling me that they got
me out of the brig and actually progressed further. After we got back, we
all started playing and continued for the next 8 hours - til around
midnight.

We left off in the middle of "No Man's Land". After that, us 3 decided to
get together each Saturday and play computer games. We finished ST JR and
played ST 25th next. Then Indy and Fate of Atlantis, Monkey Island I, etc.
We continued to get together every Saturday for the next 10 years playing
games - until I got married.

Over the years, we branched off of JUST Adventure games - mostly because of
a shortage. Played stuff like Might & Magic 6-8, Betrayal at Krondorkk
Realms of the Haunting but still always like the Graphic Adventures. Our
favorites of course were the ST games, Monkey Island Games, Indy: FOA,
Gabriel Knight, etc. All those were fantastic games and miss that quality
of game play now.

To this day, this is one of my favorite games because it started a 10 year
marathon that I thoroughly enjoyed. Computer games brought 3 of us together
every Saturday.

I just got back from a vacation in Reno. While we were there,
we went to an antique store. They actually had a copy of ST: JR
on one of the shelves.

That's amazing. Like I said, I bought Judgment Rites on 3.5 diskettes and
we played it. About a year later, the Collectors Edition came out - I think
not too long before Christmas. This one featured the voices of the original
cast plus some bonus features. This was one of my Christmas requests and I
loaded it as soon as I got home that evening. As good as the game was
originally, it was even better with voice.

About 2 weeks ago I started playing JR again. While the graphics are
somewhat dated the game play is still fantastic.

You bet I remember this one! The opening sequence with someone saying
"Space, the final frontier.." and so on, the music and graphics were
impressive for that time. I think I even recorded it to MC, because it
was so good. Machine was a 486 DX 33MHz and one of the first SB16s wich
cost me around 200$ back in end of '93.
It was my first ST adventure and I enjoyed it very much, although I am
already the TNG generation... ;-)
