Blizzard sure knows capitalism, they made us wait many years and then they decided to split the game into 3, and then after almost 2 years they are going to release it and look at the price "premium"....

You think they have a problem with money with 8+ million WoW subscribers paying 15 dollars a month (thats almost 120$ million a month!!!).

I think some companies exploit us too much, and we let them do that.

Well, the extra $ isn't just for the flash drive. You get a DVD.. a book thing, a Thor pet for World of Warcraft... and I forget the rest. I'm not sure if I'll be willing to shell out $60 though. Maybe after I get a new computer that'll run it better. xD

[citation][nom]cekasone[/nom]Why am I not happy and jumping with joy about this news?[/citation]
Because the first word in the article is Activision 🙁

$60? for one race? who the f*ck do they think they are?

oh wait, this is the same publisher that just pissed off 38 devs of one of the best-selling FPS games all-time. my bad.

nice !!! I pre-ordered my copy a couple weeks ago to get beta access.

$60 is a little steep for a game... But this is one of the most highly anticipated games EVER, and they've put alot of development time behind it. More than a game like MW2, which is going to put a sequal out a year after its release and make your $40,50,60 game obsolete and unplayable.

The original Starcraft game is still running strong and has more online players than MW2 (pc) !

The reason why it's only a 2GB drive is because back when the game was supposed to be released that was a high capacity. They are trying to take you back in time so it doesn't seem like it's as late as it really is.

I just saw the pre-ordering prices on amazon:
amazon.com: $59.99 (£39.46)
amazon.co.uk: £29.91 ($45.47)

First time I saw a game cheaper in the UK than in USA. £10 or $14 cheaper :)

BTW: found preorder Diablo 3 as well. I wonder when this is coming out.

Cant wait to get it.

Does anyone else think the picture of the dude with a burning cigar in a spacesuit is hilarious? What happens when it gets so short it starts burning his lips... or if he drops it.

[citation][nom]skora[/nom]Forgive me if my excitement from 2008 has worn off a little. I'm still a little upset over having to buy the game 3 times and might just wait a few years out of spite and buy the battle chest for the price of one. Who am I kidding, by the time the 3rd one is released, the desktop will go away if Apple has its way.Congrats loyal Blizzardites, you will finally have your 1/3 day.[/citation]
While I loved SC1 I am waiting for Battle Chest on this and they are charging console game price for the PC now I see, FU Activision.

I don't know why so many people think they will get this on Steam. Didn't you people read the article about how Blizzard will not release on Steam the day it's released? Reason: People lining up at the doors of gaming stores and midnight opening create a buzz and free advertizing for Blizzard... as if they need it..

[citation][nom]sublifer[/nom]60 bucks for part one of a three part game? No thanks! should be $20 per part.[/citation]

It's the trend, provide less, charge more. Hence DLC and basically any modern game released, including SC2. The biggest example being AvP2010.

And yet they're shocked that piracy took over. "Don't buy a couple of games and instead upgrade you GPU then download everything you want for free" seems way more attractive than being on the legal side.

Lower your goddamn prices already! It's just a game.

The trend of $60 for a title is pretty common these days.

The problem is that not all games priced at $60 are worth $60 (quality and amount of replay = "worth"), and not all projects are large and expensive enough to justify a high price tag.

When consumers purchase titles with AAA price tags without realizing the title is not AAA, they hurt other consumers and the industry by lowering the standard required for a title to sell at top price and receive critical acclaim.

Metro 2033 immediately comes to mind. Even as many review sites awarded the game 80% or higher, they pointed out some major flaws. In those cases, the score contradicts the review. A top scoring title should not be permitted to have major flaws and mechanics which are considered broken, otherwise the entire rating system makes far less sense and does not empower consumers to make safe purchasing decisions.

In the case of SC2, I have no such concern about the price. When you consider the quality, replayability, and sheer magnitude of whats being delivered, $60 is a bargain. And this is without even considering the amount invested in rebuilding battle.net from the ground up (tens of millions more, minimum).

[citation][nom]znegval[/nom]It's just a game.[/citation]
No, no it's not. This is one of the most anticipated games of all time. It doesn't need to be cheap and it doesn't need to be good and it will sell like hotcakes.

If the price is really such a problem then don't buy it. CLEARLY they are doing nothing wrong because it will sell millions. That's how supply and demand work. If people weren't buying the titles, then the prices would drop. You can't blame them for making it that price. Don't get mad because they want to make moeny too.

[citation][nom]syuperyoyoyo[/nom]...otherwise the entire rating system makes far less sense and does not empower consumers to make safe purchasing decisions.[/citation]
It never has. How many reviews, regardless of how scathing they are, ever give a rating below 70%? In fact 80% is considered quite average and it's not until you reach 90% that a game is considered good by the reviewers. I've even seen reviews where it was hard to pick out where they said something good about the title and it magically got 8/10 still.

[citation][nom]kartu[/nom]I wonder what are you talking about. I definitely didn't pay more than 35 Euros for that game. And I didn't wait for price to drop neither.[/citation]

I still got the price sticker on my box, and it definitely says 74.99. Meh, either way it was totally worth it :)

Eh, to each their own. I'm gonna wait until I can get it for somewhat cheaper, maybe even $40, although I'm afraid I may wait a long time, unless I get lucky and find one tossed in the bargain bin at the local game store. IMO, i'm not that big of a fan and could definitely live without it until it does get cheaper. I can see it now though, activizzard selling the the trilogy pack for $100 when all three come out.
