Good afternoon all.

I'm building a new PC for my family (for schoolwork, light video editing, everyday use) and just wanted to link my components list and see if anybody had any thoughts or could point out any issues. The build includes a Ryzen 3 3200G and an ASRock B450M Pro4. I was told that I'll have to update the BIOS for Picasso CPUs, is that accurate for the mobo in question?

Any other notes or info would be appreciated!

Thank you all.

Solution
Thanks for the list. As far as something like the video card goes, I should've mentioned that I won't be gaming or anything like that. Main thing this PC will be used for is schoolwork, video conferencing, etc. But you're saying this will be a better build overall? Anything in particular that was a problem in my list?

Thanks again!
Where do I start...well!
  • For starters, 8 threads will last you way way longer than 4 threads.
  • Unlike Intel, AMD stock coolers are pretty sufficient for starters, specially if you are on a low budget and do not plan to overclock. If you want a better cooler you should look at a much higher quality unit.
  • The b450 board might not be 3rd gen. ready when shipping. Also, older b450 boards do...
Some of the parts in your list are questionable. This should be better...

If you dont game much it would work, but you should get 2 sticks of memory to take advantage of dual channel.

  • The b450 board might not be 3rd gen. ready when shipping. Also, older b450 boards do not rock the larger BIOS cache of subsequent gens. which is better for Ryzen 3rd gen. CPUs.
  • Ryzen performs better with faster RAM. The sweet spot is actually 3200mhz. Also a single stick is not optimal for a dual channel board. It also takes away the redundancy, as in if that stick fails you wont be able to boot the machine.
  • That EVGA PSU is very low quality. The PSU is the heart of the machine and should not be cheaped out on quality.

If you don't want the GPU, here is the alternative to your build...

Thanks for all the info, and I'll probably end up going with the second list as the GPU isn't something I really need at the moment. I'm not a pro or anything at building PCs, at least regarding the best components to pick, so I appreciate the help.
