Question Static from all audio ports after opening PC to install an SSD ?

Hi all,

Today I finally went and installed an extra SSD in my PC. Everything seemed to go smoothly until I realized I'm getting only static out of all my audio ports. I have headphones in the front and speakers in the back. It's a specific static that seems to change with the mouse being moved, programs being opened etc. The static doesn't change if I try to mute it or turn it up. I can't hear any other audio through it. I can't imagine what I could have screwed up just by installing this new SSD?

So far I've tried messing around with all sorts of audio settings, reinstalling the audio drivers, updating the bios, removing the SSD, making sure the IO shield is making good contact, changing the outlet I plug my power cable into. I built this PC 3 years ago and it's always been plugged into the same outlet. I unplug everything and dust it every 3 months so I regularly open it up and have not had an issue before. I'm at a loss of what else to do after spending the better part of today trying to fix this. I've got an MSI Tomahawk Max B450, let me know what other info you might need. Thanks a ton for any help!

You wiggled something making it touch where it shouldn't have, there is something shorted to ground that creates distortions on your audio.

Thanks! Any idea what part it could have been? I unplugged/replugged everything involved in the SSD installation. Not sure if there are any obvious places that might cause this and I'm kind of confused as to what to look for.

Anything that has exposed metal on it, so any plug or lead, if it touches the metal of the case can cause this feedback/ground loop. It could even be something outside of the case, like if you have cables plugged in that are not always in use and they touch the case they can cause this.

WelI I looked through today and double checked everything that's plugged in and couldn't find anything touching the case. I did some cable management as well to make sure everything was as clean as possible. I also tried it in a different room with a different outlet but still had no luck . One thing I did notice is that when the computer is off and I just plug it into the outlet I hear a pop from the speakers. Not sure if it was like that before? I'm at a loss of what to try next.
