So I've had this issue for quite a while and basically Im getting static audio playing when I connect my headset (Hyper x cloud 2) to the USB ports on my PC. Its quiet at normal volumes but plays even without any audio playing. I also get static feedback noise produced when I connect a USB microphone (cheap $30-40 Amazon) and is quite evident when using a sound recording software. Luckily discord does help with reducing this with the in-built sound suppression but the problem still exists.
One strange thing to point out is if I connect my headset to the front/back 3.5mm jack the static sound seems to completely disappear. So it makes me think, why do I have static with the motherboards USB's but not with the audio jack?
I've seen people mention potentially using an externally powered USB hub to alleviate the issue so it could be one solution but I'd love to find out the potential root causes.
