Static output for minutes at a time.

hello all, recently i have been having a problem with my display and or gpu's. multiple times now i have gone internet browsing and both monitors (i have two asus led panels) turn to static for about five minutes and then go back to normal. where do i start with diagnosing a problem like this? everything is responding while the screens are like this, the only reason i think it is not the screens is that they happen at the same time, which is to much of a coincidence i would think, so i would think it would be the gpu.

specs:
cpu - intel 4930k
ram- g.skill 16 db ripjaws X
gpu- 2 GTX 780 STRIX 6GB by asus in sli
psu - cooler master 1500w platinum

if any other information is needed, i can find it.
any help is appreciated

Check cables 1st, I would start off with that.
