Static when connecting computer to tv

Hey. I'm having a little problem with my tv being displayed as a 2nd monitor for my computer.

What I'm using:
Nvidia geforce gts 450
Vga to rca convertor
Sony 32inch tube tv

Now, my problem isn't displaying the computer onto the tv, the problem is that with my tv's cable box plugged into my tv whether I'm using rca's from the box or a coax cable from the box to the tv; I get static on my tv on the input channel for the rca input. What I'm trying to do is fix this so I don't have to unplug my cable box just to watch a downloaded movie, dvd, or anything else from my computer.

I have tried different tv's, all video inputs, svideo cable instead of rca, and also using the tv box's aux input. I have also tried unplugging my router and my stereo system thinking that those could maybe be causing this but neither worked.

I'm out of idea's of what to try to solve this problem. Buying a fancy tv with an hdmi input is currently not an option.

Any idea's?

Get a volt meter and check the terminals between TV and computer. Hopefully it doesn't get above 5 volts.

The problem maybe lies on the cable of the cable box. Get a non remote simple a/b switch and use it as an on / off switch.

Make sure that both or all ground terminals on A/B switch in and out is not permanently engage.

I have one of those and tried but when using that it causes static for both then.

I also noticed that if I unplugged my computer monitor, it showed up perfectly clear. Does that mean that it's the video card causing this?

Kindna but, what you might need is a switch that actually turns OFF all the terminal connections and not just the core.

Try removing the TV cable coming from the wall to your cable box. This RF / coax cable might be the cause of your headache.

Next is to remove the cable between cable box and TV.

To show you a problem here is a link of A/B switch schematic diagram below, Notice that all are switching but the ground still running on the same path. (ground it is not disengaging even though it's already switch to a different port/signal/terminal.)

You're likely have a ground loop.
