Steam Store not working??

Dec 30th I tried to buy some games in the Steam store and got an error message stating the was a problem with the purchase contact Steam Support. I have tried it through the client, Firefox, and Internet Explorer. I have done it with Paypal, Visa, and Discover and same problem.

I submitted a ticket with them but it has been 24 hours with no response. How long do they normally take to get back with you? Anyone else experiencing this issue?. I would think that someone wanting to spend money on their site would get a decent priority.

I haven't had issues so far this sale. I haven't bought anything today though. They are sorting through a problem atm, maybe it's related.

Well I am still having issues and no response from Steam. I finally hit on the idea of gifting the games I wanted from my son's account (who lives with me). That worked for me. I will update with the response time of Steam and what the final cause was for other's information.

Was your sons account also on your PC? Your account may have been one of the ones compromised during their xmas slip up.

No he has his own PC. I use steam daily but haven't bought anything in quite a while.

Well the final solution was to gift the games from my son's account. It took them a couple of business days and they unlocked my account ( I guess during the Xmas breach they locked my store account). It took until the 4-5 of Jan.
