[citation][nom]someguynamedmatt[/nom]...this is why I actually buy my games from a retailer. That's right, Steam fanboys; let's see your disk with ALL of your data on it that you can pop in and run any time you want. What's that? You don't have one? Awh...[/citation]

Wait, what? You mean you have all your saved games on the game disc? Didn't realise game developers had that. Oh well, I'll just stick to steam cloud so I don't have to worry about losing/scratching discs, or losing savegames.

Or needing to have a whole cupboard dedicated to discs.

I just read the FAQ. And almost all the above questions and objections are covered...

Before flying off the handle, maybe try to read everything (and not JUST the header) and then comment?

Great that there is more security options available. Another plus for steam.

@someguynamedmatt: I did that once. I had 200 Originals, which included WarCraft 1, Quake 1, WarCraft 3 Collectors Ed, HL2 Collectors Ed, And a few more rare originals. They ALL got stolen. Tell me how is that better then; buying a game on steam and if something happens (like PC stolen, blown up, etc.), all I have to do is download the client, log in, and download my games again.

@makrish: +1, Just too bad that not ALL games are on the cloud. -_-

[citation][nom]f-14[/nom]do not care i do not use steam and i never will. it's all console games nowdays anyways. there are private servers to get around this crap, you just have to install a hack from an unknown source to play these games.i hope the communist's/nazi's at steam make it so the game can only be played from a specific processor ID linked to that game and kill off their user base![/citation]

I played the Crysis 2 demo.... Its nothing special. They stripped the open world'ness out of what made Crysis so fun.

Lots of good games have some crazy copy protection and may not only prevent you from playing the games at some time, but also screw up your computer/registry in the process. I don't care to have these back ground processes continually running on my computer just to play their game.

I use my computer for a lot more than playing games and if it starts acting funny because of the copy protection methods used, I have to remove the software and it may not always remove the whatever is actually causing the problems. Some of the games require updates or patches and those patches effect the performance of the computer and may also cause incompatibility with applications already on the computer. I know it many cases they are SUPPOSED to improve the performance, but that's not always the case.

Not to mention, there used to be a day when you could actually play a game without needing to connect to a server all the time and you could setup your own server for you and your friends to play on. Now you can't even run more than one instance of a video game. Not to mention make a backup copy. legally!

I don't think its always worth the effort given that many games for the PC are just bad ports . I hope that some of the new games coming out will be much better and prove that statement false in the near future.

[citation][nom]eddieroolz[/nom]I say no thank to an Intel proprietary mechanism.[/citation]
I don't quite like the idea of proprietary, but if it wasn't for those intel ideas we'de be stuck in the stone age.

I realized that most users don't have hardware-based protection, like my i7 720qm. It doesn't have it. And I don't even KNOW if its even 2nd generation or not!
