Simple fix, go into the registry and modify this key;

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows"

Change the "CSDVersion" to any of the following; 0x00000100, 0x00000200, 0x00000300 . From left to right, XP SP1, SP2, SP3.

I've used this easy hack to install many pieces of "un-supported" software before.

I'm sure windows NT4 / 2k can be modified in a similar way, enjoy!

[citation][nom]SteelCity1981[/nom]Um Windows XP can support more then 3GB of ram it's called Windows XP 64.[/citation]
have you run XP64?... i have...XP 64 is great for more than 4GB of RAM... and little else...meaning since it has such a small usage base, no body is targeting it.
i bought xP 64 to run crysis in 64-bit mode... the original crysis.
well with microsoft not supporting XP... XP64 drivers got a lot harder to find.

[citation][nom]bluestar2k11[/nom]It might.I don't remember which SP it was, but installing it on XP did all kinds of stupid crap to my system originally, I had to uninstall it. So technically, it can sometimes bite, really hard. But in general, I agree with the user base here, time to get a new PC and move to windows 7. XP is more for old school 8-16bit gaming now then anything else.[/citation]

No, for that you want either 98SE (which could still boot to DOS) or a great little program called .

Official support for Windows XP expires on; "April 8, 2014", That's nearly "TWO" years support left, not 7 months. I'll wait for Windows 7 to mature a little bit more over the next 2 years before even thinking of migrating.

[citation][nom]alidan[/nom] Or go with the mentality that if it aint broke dont fix it? i dont update anything on my pc unless something i want to do demands it, not because im lazy, not because its time consumeing, but because i dont trust every update to work glitch free... currently i have an amd card and use acdsee, but panning with the arrow keys is broke with amd drivers half the time, so i cant update them even if i want to, and i don't unless a game requires it, or i have a problem that i believe a driver update may fix. i have also updated windows before and gotten into a bluescreen loop. i have no trust for updates, and don't do it unless im forced to. and as for being hacked. i have no irrational fear that im the target everyone goes after, i keep no sensitive information on my pc, and if it did get hacked, well, all they could see is my porn collection.[/citation]

What a terrible reason. SP3 has been out for yeeeeears. There is zero reason to not update. Claiming you fear instability just makes you look like an idiot. SP3 is incredibly stable and gave me no issues the years I ran it before updating to 7.

[citation][nom]nag3lt[/nom]n]XP 64-bit isn't as good as normal 32-bit XP. It had much worse driver support, more bugs, less updates. As soon as Vista appeared, for 64-bit it was better than 64-bit XP.[/citation]

Actually I used it without any problems. I had many more problems with 7 x64 than with XP x64. There was nothing wrong with 64-bit XP, and the drivers were thoroughly developed. XP has much better compatibility , especially with older software and hardware. 64-bit XP was, in my opinion far superior to 64 Vista.
Anyone who claims that XP is long gone and expired, is most likely an ignorant gamer. Only have dx9 support does just justify claims to its obsolescence. XP still has its uses, and a large market share.
I always laugh when I see low-end laptops and netbooks that come with Win 7 pre-installed. Put XP on it and the difference is night and day.
XP with sp3 still has a few years left, it is a mature and very stable OS.
There is nothing wrong with 7, but XP is much faster and much more stable on lower-end or older hardware.
Going back to the topic, every XP user should have had sp3 installed for years.
