Question SteelSeries Apex 3 Keyboard not working with Gigabyte M27Q monitor's KVM / USB switch ?

Hi guys,

Recently I bought a SteelSeries Apex 3 Keyboard to pair with a Gigabyte M27Q monitor. I'm also using the Logitech G304 wireless mouse.
Both the mouse and KB are connected to the back of the monitor, so theoretically I could toggle between my game laptop and work laptop with the monitor's KVM switch..

My laptops are connected to the monitor via HDMI+USB B (for data) for my game laptop, and TYPE C (video + data) for my work laptop.

When I'm using my work laptop, both KB & mouse will work just fine. But when I switched onto my game laptop, the KB will not work and the mouse will be a bit jerky/laggy. The keyboard backlights will remain on, and the media wheel is functioning, but none of the other keys are registering..

I tested the KB separately by plugging it directly onto each laptop and it is working fine.

I also tried using a Ugreen USB switch for the peripherals instead of connecting them to the monitor but same result..

I'm at my wits' end... Does anyone know what the possible issue is?

Many thanks!

I actually have the same type of issue using the Gigabyte M27Q with my SteelSeries Apex Pro TKL keyboard. It will work most of the time but then randomly while I am afk or playing certain games, it will stop working entirely. Backlights for the keyboard turn off and I have to physically unplug it from the monitor and plug it back in. If I am using the USB Passthrough then my mouse also dies. I have not had this issue with my mouse plugged directly into the monitor (GPX Superlight Logitech), but the KVM REALLY does not like the keyboard.

Super frustrating because I have been looking for a solution to this for a few months now. Maybe a powered USB hub could help with this problem? I don't know if plugging my keyboard and mouse into a powered usb hub, then into the monitor, then to the PC's would cause any latency, but it would make it easier to unplug the keyboard if this happened (since Gigabyte in all of their wisdom decided to put all connections on the bottom where it is difficult to quickly unplug and replug cables unless you go behind the monitor to see what you're doing).

edit: from other threads I am reading it seems to be a steelseries keyboard problem. They have some weird programming that just hates KVM switches in general I guess.
