Stereo headset or 7.1 Surround sound

I have an Astro A40 headset with the mixamp pro and I'm thinking about selling it and getting the new roccat khan pro. The khan pro is stereo but it has better specs than the a40 with the mix amp. Should I stick with surround sound or get the Khan Pro stereo headset? I'm a gamer, so which one would be best?

What specific "better specs"?

Have you had an opportunity to go "hands on" in a store somewhere to actually feel and inspect the khan pros? Read the User Guide, check the manufacturer's forum and FAQs. See what other users (gamers in particular) might be saying or asking about.

You should be able to list out your audio and gaming requirements and then check off whether the stereo headset or the khan pro meets those requirements.

Especially with respect to gaming. For example, will surround sound help you "hear" more of what might be behind you versus just stereo?

Overall, audio is quite subjective - do you know any other gamers that could lend you the khan pro to try and test?

Even with better specs if they are uncomfortable for you to wear and use - probably a deal breaker....
