"the search engine giant is a monopoly, a term that was once used to define Microsoft, and that the government should step in and tame the Android beast."

An old saying about pots and kettles comes to mind...

Although to be fair, apart from kinda shoving their products down our throats, both companies had huge success because people found their products simpler and better to use than the competition. Especially Google's search engine. It's been a while since I've used anything else, but last time I checked it was miles ahead of the competition.

You don't understand how the system works. Without an XBOX Live Gold account (Paid) you are unable to watch Netflix even if you have a separate Netflix subscription. I pay for Netflix but I couldn't watch it on an XBOX without paying for a gold level Live account. The PS3 or Wii don't require any subscription for this aside from the one you pay to Netflix.

BTW what is Microsoft paying you? They should at least give you some products to familiarize yourself with before you post misinformation on here.

Well, if you follow the "takes one to know one" philosophy, it actually makes perfect sense.

Well, anyone with half a brain (which might include myself), no wait, 25%, no, ok let's say 10% of a brain would say that Microsoft should make
1) Desktop OS that works for the Desktop customer and
2) a Phone OS that works for the Smartphone customer,
3) a Tablet/Touch OS for the Tab/Touch customer,
instead of making windows 8.1 which does not quite work for any of the three!!

It is not rocket science to come to this conclusion! It does not require even a high school diploma to figure this out. Even Juliuis Caesar without any tech or marketing
knowledge would have been able to do that ... by applying the old "Divide and rule"
concept. How can anyone not agree with that ?

Ballmer should not pick his successor. The board should not pick his successor.
An outside investor should come in, turn over the table in the board room, kick complacent board members out, turn the company around and pick a successor.

news item; "Google Chrome pushes past MS Internet Explorer"

And why is that? Because MS decided that Win XP users did not deserve a working
IE beyond IE 8. Really not that smart of a business decision.

Item: "Steve Ballmer Says It's Weird Going to Work; Trashes Google"

I understand. If you don't know what you ought to be working on, it feels weird being there at all.
