You probably don't want to see poll results after a big layoff, whether it was a good move or not, seldom is it popular. I know you were probably joking but that's what I was thinking when I read this is "What about AMD?" :)

So only six more years until he retires? I hope they make him stick to that. But, six years is far to long for him to un-inspire the once innovative Microsoft. Sad. I don't really dislike Ballmer per-say. I just think he needs a fat, early retirement. And get some fresh, zealous, creative blood in there.

[citation][nom]alidan[/nom]want the kin extremely small and tried to compete with expensive smartphones, but the smart phones when subsidized cost as much if not less than a kin... and regardless of the plan you pay the same... who would want a kin over a full smartphone if you were in the market for one?

Yes, that partly _explains_ what happened to Kin. However, the issue is that the Microsoft employees don't feel that that _excuses_ it.

If you truly want to understand why Kin fail, check out articles like http://arstechnica.com/microsoft/news/2010/07/a-post-mortem-of-kins-tragic-demise.ars Pricing wasn't the only reason it failed, the horrible internal politics that lead to being 12-18 months late to the market was also a major factor.

The internal politics is simply mentally draining for most developers. While some argue whether it is better or worse under Ballmer, many blame him for not fixing it or even acknowledging that it is a problem.

Can't believe people think Ballmer was good for Microsoft ... he sold out to cheap labor in India, sold products full of bugs, told us "we" design it (yeah right), took 5 years to get Vista out the door which was still based on Windows 2000, Window 7 was based on Vista with a few changes with prompts, WP7 failed miserably, Zune failed miserably, and the list of failures from Ballmer keeps on going and going ... why he still has a job is beyond me??

He allowed Apple to surpass Microsoft financially.

He was late to every new technology on the market.

Microsoft's stock has flat lined since about 2001. In Bill Gates day, it used to double and split once a year, sometimes twice a year.

I mean seriously, how bad do you have to mess up to get fired from Microsoft?? Ballmer has been the worst CEO ever.
