Stick with 7700k or not

I got a great deal on the i7-7700k and a new mobo after waiting a while to build a new pc.. well I only have the cpu and mobo at the moment but after looking at reviews now of high temps on the 7700k.. should I be worried? Should I return it before I open these and wait? Everybody seems to be on the Ryzen train.. I've never been a fan of AMD and haven't owned one in probably 12-14 years.

What would you do.. stick with it? return and wait?

I wouldn't return it, just get the proper cooler for the 7700 to keep any high temps in control.

I'd wait till Ryzen releases to see how they actually perform and then make my decision. If all of the leaks are true then Ryzen is looking very promising. Seems as though you'll be able to get much more performance per dollar but who knows what is actually going to happen

No chance I'd return a 7700k for ryzen if gaming is primary cause. Best case scenario it'll perform nearly as well as a 7700k. Only advantage will be it seems to offer 90ish % of the performance for a good bit less in price. A swap from a 7700k would be a step backwards.
