Hi all,

Is it possible to "Stifle" the part of "Celestial Convergence" where it
says:

"Celestial Convergence comes into play with seven omen counters on it.",

so that it comes into play without omen counters?

Thanks in advance.

Celestial Convergence {2WW}
Enchantment
Prophecy Rare
- Celestial Convergence comes into play with seven omen counters on it.
- At the beginning of your upkeep, remove an omen counter from Celestial
Convergence. If there are no omen counters on Celestial Convergence, the
player with the highest life total wins the game. If two or more players are
tied for highest life total, the game is a draw.

Power Conduit {2}
Artifact
Mirrodin Uncommon
- {T}, Remove a counter from a permanent you control: Choose one - Put a
charge counter on target artifact or put a +1/+1 counter on target creature.
***
You could use Power Conduits, Icy Manipulators, Puppeteers and Twiddles (or
whatever) to siphon them off quickly though, if that's your goal.

Oh, or Aether Snap, if you're in a hurry, except you'd have to survive
through your opponent's turn.

AEther Snap {3BB}
Sorcery
Darksteel Rare
- Remove all counters from all permanents and remove all tokens from the
game.

No, Stifle cannot counter static abilities.

410.10e Some permanents have text that reads "[This permanent] comes
into play with . . . ," "As [this permanent] comes into play . . . ,"
"[This permanent] comes into play as . . . ," or "[This permanent]
comes into play tapped." Such text is a static ability--not a
triggered ability--whose effect occurs as part of the event that puts
the permanent into play.

Celestial Convergence
{2}{W}{W}
Enchantment
~this~ comes into play with seven omen counters on it.
At the beginning of your upkeep, remove an omen counter from ~this~.
If there are no omen counters on ~this~, the player with the highest
life total wins the game. If two or more players are tied for highest
life total, the game is a draw.

Stifle
{U}
Instant
Counter target activated or triggered ability. (Mana abilities can't
be countered.)

No, because that is not a triggered ability of any sort; it does not use the
words "when", "whenever", or "at". It is also not an activated ability of
any sort - it is not formatted "cost: effect" in Oracle text.

This is a replacement effect: it -changes- how CC comes into play. Instead of
coming into play bare, it comes into play with seven omen counters on it.

Since this isn't a triggered or activated ability, isn't itself a spell (CC
is a spell, but this is not any sort of _separate_ spell from CC), and isn't
combat damage, it doesn't use the stack. So can't ever even be responded to
by anything, let alone targetted by Stifle.

CC's other ability -is- triggered ("_At_ the beginning of your upkeep..."_) and
can be Stifled to stop it from losing a counter that particular upkeep.

Once CC is in play, it can have counters removed from it by Power Conduit,
Giant Fan, or Hungry Hungry Heifer in the usual manner. Its own triggered
ability can also remove counters from it. But there's no way to get it to
come initially into play -without- counters, since its ability says it comes
into play -with- them. AEther Snap works too, as you point out (not sure why
this looks like you're answering your own post?).
