stix 980 and z97-a nvidia driver

I have this MB and video board combination but when i intall the latest driver package from the asus site, it reboots. with a screen that seems to have lost communication. After restarting manually i see the windows icon for half a second and then back to the same situation. Any ideas as to what this is.. a clash between OB graphics and external perhaps

Do you the Nvidia driver installed?

Try starting in safe mode and uninstall the graphics driver. Then restart and try installing the driver on the card's DVD.

Thanks for the response. when you load the cards disk it points you to the asus site, which gives the you the nvidia driver.
if you install this it seems to kill the system. im not sure if it is one particular driver, as it loads a few drivers and different programs.
i would love to fiddle around and get this working but the problem is now the drive is locked.. i think i will just start again and ask asus for support..unless someone has an easier solution using dispart etc just seems too much of an effort.
any clues would be appreciated
