Stock Cooler Enough for i5 4690 Gaming

Hello, i want know if the stock cooler, will be enough to play games like BF4 (heavy games) in the I5 4690, I'M NOT OVERCLOKING!

Meh.
At idle you may experience temps anywhere from 30C to 40C and while gaming,from 60C to 80C.

It will run HOT and loud. If you want something cheap but good, look to the Cooler Master Hyper 212. Whichever model will do. Make sure it fits your case.

The stock cooler is what Intel provides so if it dies out from heat then it's on them to provide you with a new chip.

That aside, I'd never game on stock cooling. As mentioned above, I'd look for an inexpensive air cooler.

People that have had MSI boards have had only problems,I wouldn't get an MSI board.
You can get a Z87X-UD3H/Z87X Gaming 3 and a CPU cooler,like the TX3 for example.
What case are you using?

If your set on Intel then drop down to an i3 dual core. Unless you are streaming, you really don't need the i5 at this point.

If you don't mind AMD, grab the FX 8320. Very powerful processor for the price. With the extra cash, you can get yourself a nice upgrade to one of the other components.

This would be a better build.

Hi,

I am finding that our new PC with i5 4690, the stock cooler is absolutely fine so far... only had it a week and temps are good and system fans, while just audible, can only be classified as quiet when playing CS GO and Skyrim on full settings.
The 4 cores sit between 60 - 65 with one nudging high 60s
Strangely the CPU temp shows as dropping from 40 -45 at idle to ~30 under gaming ... either the fan kicks in and drops the temp or the values are erroneous (reversed?) and is actually 50 - 60 (which would still be good) anyone seen this sort of behaviour?
Need to check again on a really hot day I guess...but couldn't be happier so far.... fingers crossed

A lot of emphasis is put on aftermarket coolers these days. In reality if you're not overclocking or shoving a load of hot components into a case, you should not have an issue.

If your GPU exhausts out of the case properly and it doesnt get hot in there, then you wont have an issue and should game on the stock cooler just fine. I have had many years of playing on stock fans and had no issue.
