get driver fusion and the latest driver you can use for your card.

uninstall current driver and do not restart.
run driver fusion amd driver cleaner and restart.
install driver.

Just done as you asked, and played Portal at 1280x1024 on medium settings

and driver failed and BSOD'd you any good with a DMP file? I have 34 from the past month one or more for each day! all display driver errors

It is old and Temps are high with Fan on 45% it hovers around 50C in summer and 45C in winter, I got the card second hand, clean no a sign of dust, but I did need to replace the thermal paste, as it was at 87C when idle with fans at 45%

there is no dust!! I hate it!

when driver resets the fan go back to the default 20-25% and the temps hang at 75-81C

Oh Could the two Dip Switches on the card be causing the problems? they are both on the top position!

no idea what the dip switch is for, you might want to look it up on the manufacturers site, can only think its some sort of hardware bios overclock for the card.

you might want to redo the thermal paste again, clean off the old stuff with isopropyl alcohol and place a rice grain in the middle of the gpu die then place the heatsink squarely down onto the card and not lift it at any point once its down and then secure it evenly tightening each screw a bit at a time so they all feel roughly as tight as eachother.

Okay - it's Vendor is Dell - I am on a Referbed XPS730 air cooled Dual core.

Oh I use non metallic stuff for the obvious reason -and with components un-shielded not running the risk.

shall I hadd Past onto VREG and memory chips to? I knwo the pads are there but they are useless as be torn from first removal.

that Isopropyl is Acetone? I use pure Acetone (in uk never herd of IsoPropyl Alcohol or where to get it!)

you can get cans of spray isopropyl from maplins its called ipa170, acetone is something completely different.

you could remove the thermalpads from the chips, tbh they could be insulating the memory chips more than transfering heat, unless you wanted to buy some new ones from maplin also.

Okay Thank you, when I first re did the pasrte the pads had Oil on them like (Cork grease for brass/woodwind instruments) thick and not sticky. non sticky version of Honey/Sap


and Thankyou for all your help will let you knwo if tit works when WMC stops recording TV! :)

you want the ipa170, just look at the pic, the can has isopropyl alcohol written on it in big letters lol.

get the 400ml is a handy spray can, is good for cleaning keyboards and mice aswell just spray a little on a bit of kitchen towel and clean over your keyboard, mouse and even your monitor.

I thohght I might let you know I disabled CrossFire in CCC and it not given me a problem in 2 days I have had pc on for 41hrs23mins now and not a crash no craphics problem Idont' knwo what it is but it could just be I've used PC less these past two days.
