Storing Computer in Trunk of Car Question

Hiya everyone,

I'm in the process of moving to a new apartment and would be living with a friend for about a week until I close the deal on a new place to live, I was just wondering if storing my custom built desktop in the trunk of my car would be an issue for about a week. It's a fairly large case and there isn't much room in my friend's place.

I live around the NYC area and it's the summer currently with temperatures ranging from low 80s to around high 90s fahrenheit.

The car is parked underneath in the tree in the shade where I plan on keeping it for the duration.

As long as it's not running there isn't any chance it's going to overheat. Solder doesn't melt until around 370F or 188C so it's not like anything will go bad there and most components run at an operating temperature of around 70C which is around 160F, so I doubt you'll have any trouble.

I just put my full tower (no disassembling of the CPU cooler or GPU) in the trunk of my car and my car was driven from New Jersey to California. When I got it home and set everything up, computer turned on no problem.

If you just plan to leave it in a sitting car it shouldn't be a problem.

It's fine. Just make sure you lie it on it's side. I would probably remove the video card and rap it separate. It may put too much stress on the pci-e slot if it moves around

I'm not gonna be driving the car while the desktop is in the back, I mainly use public transportation to commute to work and back.

I'd worry more about the PC being stolen than about the sun damaging it. Considering most PC components are fine up until around 185 Fahrenheit, there should be little to no worry about the heat damaging it. Just be sure to properly discharge any static buildup before you plug everything in.

what i would do look for short term storage or free 30 day storage with a coupon. put your iteam you dont want stolen in storage.
