I have been wondering what would be the optimal fan size and number for a storm styker. I don't care about noise, I will be controlling them from my mobo. I just want good to ok temps.
Budget: none
Drives: 3 + Hue+

The case has already been decided. (Reread the post). Fans are cheap so no budget
I have 3 drives (two SSDs and an HDD plus a Hue+)

The opening post does not indicate whether or not the case has been purchased, but I'll assume it has. Decent fans run about $20-$25. If you want to put one on every fan port, you're looking at around $140-$175.

If that's fine, here's how you can get the most out of the case:
Using the Noctua iPPC NF-A14 3000s for the 140mm fans, and iPPC 3000 NF-F12s for the 120s.

Orient the two 120mm HDD fans as front intakes (not side intakes).
Use the two bottom 120mm fans as intakes.

The top 140mm fans should be exhausts, as should the rear 140mm fan.

WARNING: Those fans draw a lot of power. You should run no more than two fans per motherboard header.

If your budget has some more room than that (and you REALLY do not care about acoustics), consider switching those fans out for Delta Fan AFB1212HHE-TP02 for both the 120s and 140s. They will be horrendously loud, but they will give some insane airflow.

You could use the Delta Fan PFM1412DEB7V 140mm fans, but those draw up to 50 watts each. You can not run those 140s off of your motherboard. They will fry it. I don't think I need to comment on the amount of airflow these can give you.

So why not use the 200mm already on top? Too little air flow?

You could. It won't come close to the airflow that the Noctua or Delta fans would give you. 200mm fans tend to be very low quality as well.

The Noctua fans produce the most airflow of any mainstream computer fan series.

Seven Deltas produce airflow (and noise) comparable to a leaf blower.

hey. iv had the StormTrooper for a while, i think its pretty much similar to the stryker.

i had 6 fans in it, and let me tell you.. between 4 fans and 6 fans the temp difference was meh..
i learned that more intake fans on the bottom didn't made a big difference on my older system.
the noise was loud with 6.

personally, if you take a good CPU cooler, i would advice to stay with 4 case fans,
the bottom fans.. in my experince from the trooper were meh in adding significant cooling.

I totally agree that seven of these fans is completely pointless.

Those Deltas can cool up to 4 1U servers each. The Noctuas can cool most machines with only one. However, seven of those fans is indeed the best money-no-object ventilation you can get out of that case.
