Here's my system specs:
Celeron 667 that will run at 920
Thermaltake Chrome Orb
SE6 - Version 2.0 with Softmenu III
128mb PC100 Micron Ram cas2
10 mb Realtek 8129 NIC
10/100 Realtek 8139B NIC
Using onboard sound and video
Here's the problem:
I can OC the chip to 900 at 1.80V but only using the divider 2:3:1. I want
sound but, the onboard sound will not work over 75MHz FSB (37.5 PCI). If I
tried to set it to 3:3:1, the system won't post. After a month of running
the system at 750 to have sound, I got pissed and set the chip at 970 at
1.90V and 3:3:1. The system finally booted at 960? and I had sound (PCI ~
32) until it crashed. The processor couldn't take the voltage and wouldn't
post unless I reset the Softmenu by turning off the power supply to get the
defaults back.
Finally, I found that if I do the above (970 at 1.90v and 3:3:1) and then
during post I set the chip to 900 at 1.80 using 3:3:1 everything will run
fine at PCI of 30. I got greedy and tried to up the chip to 930 and the
system crashed. Reset by turning off the power supply and 3:3:1 wouldn't
work again until I booted at 970 and 1.90V (same procedure as above).
Any ideas?
This looks like a BIOS problem to me.
