Strange keyboard and shutdown problems with GA-K8NXP-SLI

I am wondering if anyone has seen these issues with the GA-K8NXP-SLI
motherboard.

I just bought and installed this MOBO and I did an in-place upgrade of an
existing WinXP Pro SP1 installation.

With the new OS installed, I have two problems:

1) The ordinary PS2 MS keyboard does not function at startup. The mouse
works but the keyboard is dead. I have to reset system and start SAFE-MODE.
Once in safe-mode I delete the standard "101" keyboard driver and I have to
force a reset as the system will not shutdown.

On the next boot the keyboard is OK.

Once in XP I must delete the keyboard driver on exit EVERY TIME or I have to
go through the SAFE-MODE boot.

2) The system no longer shuts down or re-starts. I must do a hard reset or
reboot every time.

The OS was fine prior to the new MOBO and video card.

I have noticed that there is no APM tab in the Power Options under the
Control Panel either.

The HAL appears to be correct as the "ACPI Uniprocessor PC".

The system:

GA-K8NXP-SLI
AMD Athlon64 3500+ CPU
MSI 6600GT PCI-X video card
1 GB DDR400 RAM (2 x 512 MB).
480 WATT PS
WD 160 GB Hard drive
MS Natural KB PS2
IBM Optical USB mouse.
Additional Zoltrix Video Capture card - PCI
Windows XP Pro SP1

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thx.

Heya Dino Cirilli.

I have the same problem.

Iam still tryin to find info on the prob.

A quick/temp fix for you is to go to the device manager once logged
into XP and uninstall the keyboard then straight away "Scan For
Hardware Changes"

When it says to reboot, Dont.

I get the problem just before or as it is verifying the DMI pool on
bootup is this the same for you.
