Hello Friends,
Since some time my PC has been acting very strange.
It's a 9900k using 2 x 16gb Corsair Vengeance RGB 3200 Mhz RAM
Symptoms:
When i power the PC on; the pc reboots 2 times and on the 3rd "try" it boots. Not issues once booted; i can game ; do benchmarks, no problem.
This has been going on for a while; if i remember correctly when this started the PC did not boot through to windows. I finally got it to boot to windows after lowering the RAM Speed from 3200 mhz (Which is the listed speed for my ram) to 2800MHZ. At this moment it also runs at 3000MHZ with lower timings.
I also remember RAM 55 errors around that time but managed to get the PC up and running after messing a bit with it.
If i remove the RAM; the PC still does the same reboots when powering it on.
What is also very strange: there is no longer an XMP profile for 3200MHZ in my BIOS; even when setting it back to defaults.
Troubleshooting performed:
Tried each ram stick separately and in other slots with all combinations possible using 1 or 2 sticks. No fix
Removed RAM, GPU, CPU (and repasted). No fix.
Loosened the screws of the CPU cooler. No fix
Possible conclusion:
I'm pretty sure nothing is wrong with the RAM sticks.
My guess is the CPU is degrading; specifically the Memory controller.
My second guess is the motherboard has an issue; it's a Z370 purchased in 2017
My Third guess is something is wrong with the PSU (thermal Take Thoughpower TF1 1550W)
