Hi. For the past month or so, I've been dealing with a strange issue that has to do with the startup of my pc.

First of all, post takes a long time (it shows the mobo's ASUS logo for over half a minute).

Then after the welcome screen, the desktop is black and a soundmixer.exe error pops up. Something about that file being incompatible with my 64 bit OS. I have to press ok to the error window in order for the desktop to appear.

Once I do that I get a WindowsApplication1 stopped working error and then a NET Framework incompatibility error regarding a file called windows.vbs.

I think this has been happening ever since I did a system restore.

How can I fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Everything is up to date, including the mobo's bios.

You can try re-doing all the chipset drivers (https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Motherboards/Z97P/HelpDesk_Download/).
If that doesn't work, I would re-do the BIOS, and do a fresh install of Windows..you have some deep seated quirks.
