Question Strange Thing: PC Restarted and now m.2 is unformatted

The PC just randomly restarted and then could not find the boot device. I replaced the M.2 and reinstalled OS and the machine is working fine but the M.2 i took out says NOT FOMRATTED and is reading as healthy on Crystal Disk Info and chkdsk. There was nothing happening out of the ordinary, just doing some word processing and boom, random unexplained restart and the drive is not formatted. Wiped clean. Anyone ever heard of this?
