Hey guys,

Please add me to what appears to be a very, very long list of unhappy people using this motherboard! After spending the better part of 2 days building my PC, I have a $300 POS sitting in my case... Here's whats going on...

(1) Got the dreaded CPU INIT issue. This cleared up for no reason and then....

(2) Got DDR Error msg using Crucial Ballistix Tracer memory. Played around with different memory and location of memory and cleared that up. The...

(3) Now have a CMOS error on post. Tried everything to resolve, including calling Asus today (Sunday) and speaking with a tech. No luck, he told me to call back Monday to speak with the BIOS department. I've tried replacing the battery, clearing CMOS, etc with ZERO luck.

My PSU is decent (Coolermaster 1000W) and I've double checked all connections. I'm open to any suggestions, including throwing the whole thing out the window! :)

Any idea what I can try next????

Thanks for listening to my rant...

NOT buy an overpriced ASUS motherboard next time?

But seriously, talk to tech support tomorrow, its probably a known issue with the board, and hopefully they'll help you through fixing it, otherwise RMA and hope that you get a good one this time.

Good luck.

My Striker Extreme rocks! Well it used to. I built the system two years ago, with an intel 6700 @2.66. Two GTX 8800 Graphics cards, Two 150gig Raptor HD and two 1gig stick of OCZ Gold mem. This is all run by a little old 350w PSU, as the Galaxy 850W would not stay stable. Is has been the best comp I've ever known, plays FSX like real life. Anyhow the time came, when I got an 8600 processor, and Windows 7, and some new mem. I thoght it better to let a pro upgrade my Bios rather than mess with the uncertain. Well now they have had to RMA my board, and I'm supposed to wait two months? After chirpping to head office they how now decided to give me a new "compatible" board. It's going to be an EVGA, but now I need to buy DDR3 mem. The 790i ultra chipset seems to have good reviews, but I miss my Strike Extreme.

speedbird744 - ur problems are one of a billion Asus customers.

the board came with defects the moment it came to ur work bench. The only scenario here is that u get it RMA'd and if u want to stick to SLi'ing (since u were on the Striker Extreme) you might want to consider moving onto the Asus Striker II Extreme or mayb an eVGA sli board - they overclock nicely

I had similar setup the difference was e6600 and corsair memory. I had it rock stable at 3.611MHz. I just recently sold my 8800 gtx's. I miss it to. I had ZERO problems.
