I have a R9 290 and I feel the time has come for an upgrade, now I've been checking all over the place -and let me tell you, these prices, they don't make sense, very ridiculous, I saw an used RX 480 go for 450€, very sad, how do I fix this?

Solution
Because of a new type of "Crypto Currency" coming out (Like a new version of Bitcoin, Dogecoin, etc) people are buying graphics cards by the dozens to use the to farm for this new currency.
Because of the sudden, insane, demand of graphics cards, the prices of almost ALL mid/high-end GPUs have skyrocketed as you see.

The only way around this right now is to search locally for someone selling a decent GPU, who is clueless as to the current demand for them, However this can be extremely difficult and time consuming. I recommend you set tight and wait for the market prices to subside in a few months and make due with what you have right now.

I know, its super inconvenient.

Hope this helps, good luck.
Basically as Corwin65 says, higher end GPUs that can be used for mining were rapidly taken up and therefore they have had a shortage in supply and prices rocketed.
Lower end GPUs like the 1050/Ti remainm largely unaffected as they are not powerful enough to be used for mining.
Really you're likely gonna have to wait, REALLY shop around, or bite the bullet.

I believe it has, a quick check on Ebay shows that there are many r9 290s being sold for prices higher than usual.
Good luck.
