Stuck Between TN and IPS! [Gaming, Game Programming, Small Graphics Work]

Hello,

I have just built a new gaming rig, but my final step is to purchase a monitor for the system.

I'm looking to spend around $200, give or take $20. I am using a GTX 770.

What I'd be using it for:

• 
  Gaming, but not heavy gaming.
  Programming / Typing
  Reading a lot of text on screen
  Occasional graphic design work (not nearly as often as programming)

I have been looking at this 23" IPS monitor in particular. It seems to be a great value for about $200:

Do I have better options for my money, or am I getting close here?

the benq is perfect for gaming with 1ms and minimum input lag, better than GL2460HM. since you arent that committed to gaming the asus is a better overall monitor, having an ips panel

Chris987, thank you for your post. To somebody who is a gamer, but not a very heavy gamer, would the refresh ratio be very noticeable in an IPS with 5-6ms response time, vs a TN with a 1ms response time?

Also, I like the ASUS that you linked me to, but I think I like this one more for it's pivoting screen and other functions.

This one is the same price, but a little less than an inch smaller. It seems to have a much sturdier stand, though, as well as more pivot and rotational ability.

Judging by the screen only, does your ASUS differ from the ASUS I picked greatly, or could I go either way?

IMO No. I certainly cannot perceive lag/ghosting at 5mS. Only a little on an old 12mS monitor

the asus you have picked will still be great. ips ~5ms are still great for gaming.for the overall usage you seek, an ips monitor will cover your needs!
