Stuck in boot-loop after probably a failed attempt at resetting the rtc ram.

I was resetting the rtc ram as per the instruction to put a 771 xeon processor in my 775 mobo. So i followed the instructions on the mobo manual. turning of the psu and unplug it, remove the battery (removed the graphics card first, as that was in the way), the moved the jumper to the 2-3 position for 5-10 seconds. After that i put the jumper back into the 1-2 position, and replaced the battery, making sure that it was the right way. Then I replaced the graphics card, plugged in the psu and turned it on. when i then powered it up again. the computer did not give any signal to the monitor, even if it was on for several minutes. So i turned it off, and then on again. and now it only turns on, and the fans starts going for 4-5 seconds before it turns of and then on again. This goes on until i turn the psu off. I have tried to start it with only the cpu and a stick of ram. I have pressed the power button several times while the cmos battery was out. I have done the procedure several times with varying length of leaving the battery out. I'm running out of ideas at this point. And all the solutions i find on google ends up being trivial mistakes from op, like forgetting to put the jumper back or the reset button has been stuck in the on-position. I unplugged the front panel connectors and still the same problem.

hardware:
mobo: Asus p5k-e
cpu: Intel Xeon e5440
gpu: gainward gtx 560 ti
psu: Corsair vx550w
ram: 2x1gb HyperX ddr2 pc6400 + 2x2gb Samsung ddr2 pc6400

Any suggestions will be tried and greatly appreciated
(oh, and sorry for my bad english)

That's a wrong term as the BIOS/CMOS is not RAM, it's ROM or more correctly EEPROM.

Anyway, you are trying to use a CPU that is not supported by your motherboard as you probably already know. There is no guaranties that it will work. I cannot really help you with that, as i think you should get the right parts that are compatible instead of trying all kind of mods that could eventually end up damaging something in your computer.

Ok, i didn't buy this system to care for it or anything. This was a very cheap used system that i bought for the sole purpose of doing this. But i have another computer that it fits in. So no stress. But have run into another problem. I now try putting a q6600 in the computer. And it doesn't post. but then i put in the cpu that it came with a c2d 6850. And it works fine. And yes i have checked that the mobo supports the cpu.
