Specifications:

Monitor Model: Acer KG271U Xbmiipx
Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 3
CPU: i7-8700k @3.70 GHz
GPU: RX 7700 XT

TL;DR, newly purchased monitor has strange stuck pixel issue or pixel defect

I recently bought a new monitor as above, and within two weeks of having it, what appears to be a stuck pixel suddenly appeared on my monitor. I have tried numerous different techniques to fix this issue, but none of them have seemed to work. So I did a little bit of digging and found something out that may be helpful towards helping me answer this question. I noticed that when I would full screen in a video game, it would suddenly appear, and when I would un-full screen, it would fade out in front of me. The pixel would physically disappear in front of my eyes, becoming more transparent.

I was able to control this pixel appearing based on if I was full-screened in a game or not. And so, this leads me to believe it is either a defect in the monitor or some sort of strange stuck pixel. I just want to know what this is and if it is able to be fixed or not. I have had it for around a month now, and this issue has persisted daily.

Hopefully there is a fix to this, as I have tried all of the normal techniques that are popular online for fixing stuck pixels, and none of them have worked in the slightest. I have also tried turning off my monitor and waiting, turning down the brightness, resetting the monitor's configurations, and so on. If someone has the answer, please let me know.

Solution
Thanks for replying fast. Yes I have tried different cables, there was no difference when I tried this. I'm very likely going to be returning this for a working model. What do you think the issue is with this? Never seen anything like this, where a green pixel appears on command when full screening in a game.
It just happens sometimes. Dead pixels. I've only ever had it omce out of maybe 10 different monitors.

Hey there,

Most likely, no fix. I'd just RMA the monitor for a replacement.

But, just to be sure, have you tried the monitor with different cables and/or different ports?

It might also be worth resetting the monitor from the monitor menu system. See if that helps.

If you do get it replaced it would be good to know who you bought it from, or if it's Acer themselves who agree to replacement.

As said above, a single stuck pixel is rarely accepted as a defect. I had an issue years ago with a stuck green pixel. LG claimed they'd have changed it if it was in the centre of the screen, but because it was off-centre (5mm to the left!) that didn't count.

I've never heard of a pixel that only appears and sticks in full-screen mode though. The pixel can't know, so it must be some setting that varies between the two modes. Does it happen in every game? Can you find a graphics setting that is different between the two modes? I'm thinking things like refresh rate, some kind of HDR, even maybe resolution.

I had a Benq lcd with a single always on pixel in the bottom left quarter of the screen. It was nothing in the scheme of things but it drew my eye to it in any darker scenes. That it was a single off centre pixel meant that I couldn’t get the monitor replaced. Had the thing for 5 years, I never got used to it.
