Question Stuck with raid setup

Hi,

I've been building a desktop / htpc to store data in a raid1 array. I've bought a pcie card based on an asm1061 chipset with two sata6 connectors.

Upon booting, it says Jmicron technology pcie controller etc ... and it says that two hdds are connect. Don't see a way to upload a picture around here.

Is there a way to enter it's bios or some sort of configuration to setup the array?
There's nothing new in my bios.

Thanks ahead.

Why RAID 1?

What is your real backup/data protection scenario?
Hi.

On an earlier thread (how to access a drive remotely) you've given me a suggestion on how to keep a proper backup.
All data will be copied manually on an external drive kept offline in a drawer and the most important stuff (photos) will be automatically synchronized with Google drive.

The problem is, there's nobody reliable to keep backuping manually on the drive from the drawer. I'm not there to keep my eye on regular backups on something like a USB plugged in a router or any other solution. As far as I know, it could fail the very next day.

Hence, raid 1 to increase chances for the data to be there next time I arrive. I did that the last time everything died.

And as probably said earlier, RAID 1 does nothing for the actual data.
It is only for uptime, in the event of a physical drive fail.

Accidental deletion in a RAID 1 simply means the file is gone from 2 drives at once.

There are multiple means of doing backups all hands off.
Automated, on a schedule.

You could set up an automated schedule to an external, or to OneDrive/Google Drive.
Then on whatever your manual schedule is, go and to the manual thing to a different drive in the drawer.
