I have been shopping around for a laptop, and it dawned on me - why can't I build a laptop myself from scratch like I can with a desktop? I searched and searched and I can't find individual laptop parts anywhere. Do you think this will be possible anytime soon?

Thanks,

Just as soon as you convince all the manufacturers to conform to a standard (ie ATX or BTX for desktops).

You can find barebones ones that you add your own hard drive and ram to if you look around enough, and sometimes even processor, but that'sabout limit to it. There was some move to standardize a graphics connection, to allow choosing this too, but haven't seen any laptops that offer that as an option yet.

If you get farther up the chain, and are willing to order more than one(amount depends on who you deal with) can get more flexibility,b ut I rather doubt that'swhat your'e wanting.
