Stupidly enabled RAID mode in BIOS now SSD is gone.

Hi,

Apologies first if this is in the wrong place clearly I'm not very knowledgeable. First build pc was in BIOS mode and was seduced by RAID mode so enabled it and now my SSD is gone.

I have gone to PCH storage configuration and changed the SATA mode selection back to AHCI and still can't see my SSD in SATA information upon reboot.

Can anyone suggest any further steps to take?

Thanks for reading and anything suggestions.

Full spec;

Asus H370-a prime
16gb Corsair vengeance ram
I5 8400
Gtx 1060
Windows 10 pro

PC has always worked fine I installed a new CPU cooler and it was my first boot so went into BIOS to see its speed and this is when I made the stupid mistake.

Do you mean the H370 ?

In any event, it is not convenient to switch SATA modes in windows 10. Here is a primer for the best move, from one to the other. It's not clear to me what driver is now loaded in your machine but this will set the proper environment i.e., safe mode.

Now here is the quick and dirty method:

"Windows 10 is pretty forgiving if you go through Safe Mode

If you already installed under RAID, you can change to AHCI with Win 10. ( and visa versa)

In Win 10, do a safemode boot by going to run (Win Key+R) => type msconfig.exe and choose => boot => safe boot.
On the reboot, hit F2 or Delete and go into Bios ( before Safe Mode ) and change to AHCI/RAID as needed.
Then boot into Safemode and let Win10 load the default MS drivers automatically.
Open msconfig as as above change back to normal boot, then reboot.
Win10 will once again load the AHCI/RAID Drivers as needed automatically "

I was only using the SSD so i had my windows on there. i have moved it back to AHCI in the BIOS options. Reset Defaults in BIOS. i have manually shorted on Mobo (although not sure how this worked as asus manual said to turn computer off and then short the two pins with a screwdriver?) and have also reset CMOS by removing battery and shorting pins on Mobo still SSD cannot be found in Sata information.

I guess i just destroyed my SSD by clicking RAID Mode? never again.
