Sub £200 GTX 970

There is no way I can recommend buying one of these cards new.

The RX 480 4GB is a better overall choice for you.

If you want to stick to Nvidia, buy a GTX 1060.

On the 3, I would take the MSI one... Gigabyte is the worst hardware maker I can think of. Their QA and design choices are really bad.

Whats the problem with the above cards?. My current 770 is a zotac and benchmarks relatively low. I was expecting a 25% improvement. I can sell the 770 for for circa £100. A 480 is way above budget and my PSU is only 600w. Gigabyte cards get good reviews admittedly for the G1 version.

Cheers. I have never owned an AMD GPU. Are there still driver issues? The budget constraints still stand. I reckon I will renew the entire system in a couple of years anyway when the i5 4670k will be past it. My monitor is limited to 60hz anyway and just want to get the max out of my current rig bought in 2013. I just thought a 970 would guarantee 60fps on max settings mainly for Arma 3. saying that I seem to be spending more and more time on Kerbal Space Program which is much less demanding. Damn that game is addictive!

unless your cpu is highly overclocked, you are not getting 60 fps in arma

I know what you mean. I play Arma 2 and 3 mainly single player as internet speed in the backwoods of Yorkshire is chronic. My fps is really eratic and lucky to get 40 fps. No better even in Arma 2. Given the system is ageing I am planning on over clocking the CPU and the GPU which I haven't yet done. I find view distance the major parameter that dictates fps. I was hoping the 970 may push my fps somewhere near 50 plus.
