New to PC building.
My specs are:
Win10(x64)
CPU: Intel Core i7 4790k @4.00GHz
RAM: 16G Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 933MHz
Mobo: MSI Z97a Gaming 7
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970
PSU: EVGA 650 GS
What did I do wrong guys, I am getting a 4684 score with my setup and I know that this is potato compared to where I should be.
I have looked at some fixes like setting my comp to high performance, setting GPU power settings to performance and such. I used DDU to wipe and reinstall the latest updates for my graphics card. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be welcome, help my expensive potato become the golden apple it's suppose to be.

for fire strike extreme it is within the range you should be in

for regular fire strike it is less than half the score you should be getting

so the question is, are you running fire strike extreme?

looking at you scores I can point to the problem:

your cpu score is WAY too low, install hwinfo run it sensors only, minimize in the background

play a game for a while, close it then go into hwinfo

post back with max temps on the cpu, I believe your cpu is thermal throttling OR

you have not updated the motherboard bios to at least 7916v13

which is needed for that cpu.

I will try out the Hwinfo while playing a game and post results.
Just a quick note, I did run MSI Afterburnder during the Firestrike test and the max cpu temp was 43C, and my motherboard bios is updated to 1.A, which is the latest bios from MSI. Also since I am a beginner at all this, would there be any merit to installing 7916v13 version of the bios then updating with each bios after that?

If all else fails I might try to go back to Win8.1, but that's last resort because I quite enjoy Win10

if you are already at newest bios then that is fine.

That is the minimum bios that supports that cpu.

was your system running fine in win8? win10 is very buggy at the moment.
