Hello. I have an issue with my computer (which is only two weeks old) I can't find a solution for online. After playing Hunt Showdown for about an hour (everything running fine) I suddenly get extreme lag - like less than 1 FPS. I can barely move my mouse. I managed to exit the game, but the lag persists on the desktop too. When gaming, the GPU is not hot (60 degrees) and neither is the CPU (65 degrees). After exiting the game it's just running standard idle with no load (30-40 degrees for all components). I can't see anything in Windows Event Manager either. It's as if Windows doesn't even recognise there's an issue although I can barely do anything with less than 1 FPS.

Sometimes I regain control of my mouse again, which is moving as normal with 144 HZ/frames, but the rest is still extremely laggy (opening a folder, browser or whatever - it's almost impossible). I tried ending different processes in the task manager (takes ages with this lag), but it didn't do anything. And I don't really have much software installed. If I restart the computer or simply sign out of my profile and log in again, the problem is gone until I start playing again for a while. What causes this?!

Spec is
- B650 aorus elite ax
- 4070 dual oc asus
- 7800x3d
- 750w PSU (can't remember it's name, but it was a high quality one)
- 32gb ram
- 2x nvme SSD (each 2 TB)

When playing the game, it's running completely smooth on all settings maxed (110-144 fps) until it out of nowhere begins this extreme lag with less than 1 FPS (takes almost a minute to just open task manager). Since it doesn't go away when I exit Hunt Showdown, I'm not even sure it has anything to do with that game. The computer is still new, so I haven't played much else on it.

EDIT: I have of course installed all the newest drivers. OS is Win11. My BIOS driver is not the newest but neither is it that old (from July). I've always been told not to touch the BIOS unless anything is wrong. I don't suppose it could be a BIOS issue?

I can't remember what it showed when the lag happened and while I was still in the game, but when I exited the game (and still lagging extremely much), it was showing standard idle info (0-10% cpu usage and 6.5 gb ram usage) - basically what it shows right now. My SSD is only 30% full, and it was showing 0% usage - again, what it is showing right now. All according to Task Manager.

Anyway I may have actually "fixed" the issue. I uninstalled Geforce Experience and something called Geforce Frameview (no idea what it is). To see if the problem happened in other games, I let Starfield run with everything maxed for 10 hours. No issues, everything was looking good in HWinfo. Then I tried Hunt Showdown and let it run for as long as I could (same in-game place the issue happened last time). After 9 hours I exited the game normally - no problems either. Almost 1:1 readings in HWinfo between Hunt and Starfield (they both stress my GPU hard but not the CPU much). Normally the issue in Hunt happens after just 0.5 - 1 hours gameplay.

I'm surprised if it was really was this Nvidia software. Also quite shocked. I thought issues like these with big companies like Nvidia and AMD were a thing of the past.

Just to "close" this thread in case anyone reads it the future and have similar problems. I've not had any issues playing Hunt Showdown (or any other game for that matter) since I uninstalled the two aforementioned programs. Can't say for certain if it really was the cause, but it was the only change I made.
