random unexplained and varied crashes and BSOD's are symptoms of a failing PSU, what are your full specs? I had the same experience as you myself and took months to work out it was the PSU as it can cause so many different problems

i5 3570k + CM evo 212
GtX 780 (Gigabyte)
Corsair vengeance (4gbx2) .. (now only one stick working)
beQuiet powerzone 850w

... if it helps i dont smell anything weird (like burns or something) coming from inside the case !

you wouldnt, a PSU only has to play up slightly to wreck havoc on a PC, although that one looks pretty decent? how long have you had it and did it come with the 5 year warranty?

About 2 years now ... and only one year of warranty unfortunately !

A warranty of only 1 year on a psu is extremely worrying, a decent psu comes with a ten year warranty, your psu was only built to last one and a bit years, how much did it cost?

I bought it new from a local vendor.

how much?
