Hi.
I have an issue with my gaming laptop.

Laptop Model: Acer Nitro 5
CPU: i7-11800H
GPU: RTX 3070
RAM: 16GB

I have not had any trouble with this laptop until yesterday, when completely all of a sudden, performance dropped absurdly low. I was playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance, in which I usually get around ~80 fps, and in a single moment it dropped to 10 fps max. I restarted my computer and the problem persevered. I attempted to play other games and all suffered from very poor performance.

I have already attempted several things. I have tried a full system antivirus scan, I have reinstalled my GPU drivers, I've set power settings to best performance, and even set the GPU to the preferred graphics processor in the NVIDIA control panel. Temperatures also look normal so it does not seem to be an overheating issue.

I don't know what else to try before I take it to a specialist. Any ideas? Thank you all.

Check and see if your laptop is pending any BIOS updates. Use the serial number for your laptop on Acer's support portal in order to do so.

I have reinstalled my GPU drivers
Use DDU to remove all GPU drivers(Intel, AMD and Nvidia) in Safe Mode, then manually install the latest GPU driver sourced from Nvidia's support site in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

Dubious as I was, it was updating the BIOS to the latest version and that worked! Thank you very much!

I would suggest check power settings in BIOS and Reset Graphic settings. Sometimes, resetting your in-game graphics settings to default can help. Adjust them back to your usual preferences afterward.
