Question Sudden poor performance with 3080.

In the past few weeks I noticed a extreme drop in performance on my desktop. I have included the userbench below. I have the 3080 paired with a i9 9900k and have always had stellar gaming performance. I loaded up a AAA game for the first time in weeks (Doom Eternal) and had really low FPS. I assumed it was a Doom issue until I ran a Timespy bench and got 2000, when I normally get around 16000. No idea what is going on. I noticed by bios had reverted to an old version (likely from a weird crash) but I updated the bios and ran the benchmarks again and still have terrible performance. Any idea?

download and install DDU, then run it in SAFE mode. restart your PC and then reinstall nvidia GPU driver.

retry benchmark

So this worked for a bit, then it seemed to go back to the poor performance. I followed the same steps again (DDU) and it once again worked for a short while but now it seems to revert to poor performance quite quickly after a full refresh of the driver. Only thing I can think of that might be new would be that I have used stable diffusion quote a bit recently (locally installed). I wonder if that may be running in the background somehow borking the performance. Any additional insight would be appreciated.

Admirable
What did you notice in the UB bench? Anything specific?
High background CPU useage, two drives perform rather slow, your CPU and GPU also both underperform though CPU might be from the background use. There might be bad Windows settings or reg entries somewhere bogging the system down, or drivers, malware, etc. Better to reinstall Windows and see if that helps before going on a wild goose chase through the entire system to no avail.

Just did a new run on UBM. Before I did that
Run ubm like this.

Reboot.
Wait a few mins.
Run ubm with the browser closed.
Post a link to the results.

I thought I had the problem solved when I saw there was an updated nvidia driver available and once it installed everything worked perfect. I did a restart and it went right back to the same issue. Super low performance. I switched the type of nvidia driver to the other kind (not gaming - cant remmber what it is called) and it went right back to perfect performance. Did a restart - and it reverts again. It seems that on a fresh driver install it works and once I restart the computer it goes right back to rough performance. Super weird.

If you ran ubm like I asked it shows you have boatload of stuff running at startup.
Make your startup group skinny.

Switched again to the Nvidia studio driver and performance is back up:

I assume that once I restart my computer the issue will resume.
If it has to do with this diffusion app some reading about how to uninstall.
