Hi, my PC (8 years old) suddenly turned off and I cannot turn back on again (There was a small but noticeable sound when something shorts itself but not sure). There were some occasional BSOD (2-3 in the last month).

After this there was no RGB, no reaction to start button, but after reconnecting the power supply cable, the RGB came back. Pressing the power button cause nothing expect a small and short humming sound sometimes, a little fan movement (really really small) but then nothing. Tried to reconnect the motherboard power cable, removed the RAM first, then the GPU as well (not sure if this is even a good idea but I tried anyway). Same thing happened. No beeps from the motherboard. No burning smell or something similar.

I assume it might be the PSU. Any tips how to pinpoint the issue?

Spec just in case it helps:
i3-8350
GTX1070
ASRrock h370
16gb ram
be quiet pure power 10 600w
+3 fans

How old is the PSU in your build?

Try and replace the unit with one that's reliably built, is fairly new, borrowed from a friend or neighbor and see if that alleviates the issue.

That was my first idea as well, I will try it in the morning.

I bought everything together, all parts were completely new. It should be around 7-8 year.

Thanks for the help.

It does look like PSU, yes.

One clue towards the PSU issue is that the PSU you have, is a poor one, with measly 3 years of warranty. Also, PSU's own build quality, at best, is mediocre. So, if your PSU is as old as the rest of the PC (8 years), then your PSU is way past it's expected lifetime.

Sadly, when PSU goes out, there is a chance that it takes other components with it. The better the build quality of a PSU - the lesser the chance. Your unit doesn't excel in build quality, so, other components (e.g MoBo) could be dead as well.

Only way to test, is with 2nd, good quality PSU. E.g Seasonic Focus/PRIME or Corsair RMx/RMi/HXi/AXi.

I might just scrap the whole thing and build a new one.
Anyway, I will try to revive it with another PSU to see if the rest is fine.

Thanks again for the quick insight.
